The purpose of the Recreation Commission to promote the general welfare of the community by providing recreational activities for children and other citizens of the Town of Woodstock.
The full Recreation Commission meets monthly, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. See the Calendar tab (above) for upcoming meetings. Special Subcommittee meetings are scheduled as needed. Agendas and minutes are available at the Town Hall and on this website. Meetings are open to the public.
The Recreation Commission is a five member group created by the Board of Selectmen. The terms of office are two years running concurrently with the Board of Selectmen each municipal election.

New Recreation Park Facility: Located on Senexet Village Road (Behind the Beeches Real Estate off Route 171): Soccer field, walking trail, and basketball court. For more information contact the Recreation Department.

Wii Gaming for Woodstock Seniors: The Wii Gaming System is a fun, interactive program that promotes healthy lifestyles through physical active play. Games include tennis, bowling, golf, and dancing. Games are played on a big screen with the use of hand held controllers. The cost is FREE. The program begins October 8th and is located at the Woodstock Town Hall, Lower Level, on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 am to noon. All participants must fill out a waiver of liability prior to using the game system.
2017 RECREATION PROGRAMS
Essentrics Age Reverse & Rebalance Exercise Class: Classes are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. Class dates for the next four weeks are as follows: 4/4, 4/6, 4/11, 4/13, 4/18, 4/20, 4/25, NO CLASS ON 4/27. All classes are held in the lower level of the Woodstock Town Hall and are part of the Woodstock Recreation Department's Senior Exercise Program.
Memorial Day Road Race: Sign up for the 37th Annual Memorial Day 10K Road Race! The event will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 with the race beginning at 9am at the Woodstock Academy. The cost to register by May 15th is $20. The cost to register after May 15th is $25. The first 100 participants to register online at www.lightboxreg.com will receive a Free Athletic Shirt. Race day registration is from 7:30-8:45 a.m. at the Woodstock Academy Fieldhouse Gym.
Squirt Soccer: It's time for squirt soccer for children ages 3 & 4. Registration deadline is April 28th. Must be 3 years old by May 6, 2017. The dates are Saturdays, May 6, 13, 20 and 27 and June 3 and 10th at the Woodstock Elementary School Field from 9-9:30 a.m. The cost is $25 per player, $35 maximum per family (includes a T-Shirt.)
Youth Field Hockey: Field hockey is beginning for girls in grades 4 and up. The dates are April 24, 26, May 1, 3, 8, 10, 15 and 17th from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. at the Charles Bentley Athletic Complex. The cost is $50 per person with a 20% sibling discount.

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP DAY ON WALKING TRAILS
Woodstock held a Community Clean Up Day at our new Recreation Park Walking Trails. Nine volunteers work from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the woods, collecting two Town dump truck loads of old glass, rusty car and truck parts, tires, barrels and other trash on April 10, 2010. Volunteers included Jeff Bartolomie, Zack Bartolomie, Christopher Bates, Laura Burke, Mackenzie Cooney, John Navarro, and Karen Fitzpatrick of Woodstock, Emily Navarro of Pomfret, and Thomas Hull of Brooklyn.
