Senior Fitness - Qigong Exercise Class: Classes are held Wednesdays from 9:00 - 9:45 am. There is a minimal charge of $2 per class for residents and $3 per class for non-residents. All classes are held in the lower level of the Woodstock Town Hall and are part of the Woodstock Recreation Department's Senior Exercise Program. Come and practice Qi Gong with twenty year T'ai Chi and Qi Gong practitioner Nick Beams. Qi Gong (pronounced "chee gung") translates roughly to "energy skill," and is an ancient Chinese body practice using the body-mind-spirit connection. Qi Gong is designed to supplement and enhance subtle energy in the body to promote health and wellbeing. One common possible benefit of Qi Gong includes releasing the mind and body from stress induced by daily life tensions. Mr. Beams uses an holistic approach in his classes by incorporating Qi Gong from the Yang, Chen, Ip, and Wudang styles for an unsurpassed and comprehensive practice. Qi Gong is practiced around the world today. It can be done sitting or standing, and no demanding physical ability is required. The movements can also be adjusted to suit individual needs. Please come dressed comfortably for freedom of movement. All ages are welcome!
