Recreation Commission


The purpose of the Recreation Commission to promote the general welfare of the community by providing recreational activities for children and other citizens of the Town of Woodstock.


The full Recreation Commission meets monthly, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. See the Calendar tab (above) for upcoming meetings. Special Subcommittee meetings are scheduled as needed. Agendas and minutes are available at the Town Hall and on this website. Meetings are open to the public.


The Recreation Commission is a five member group created by the Board of Selectmen. The terms of office are two years running concurrently with the Board of Selectmen each municipal election.

New Recreation Park Facility: Located on Senexet Village Road (Behind the Beeches Real Estate off Route 171): Soccer field, walking trail, and basketball court. For more information contact the Recreation Department.

Wii for SeniorsWii Gaming for Woodstock Seniors: The Wii Gaming System is a fun, interactive program that promotes healthy lifestyles through physical active play. Games include tennis, bowling, golf, and dancing. Games are played on a big screen with the use of hand held controllers. The cost is FREE. The program begins October 8th and is located at the Woodstock Town Hall, Lower Level, on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 am to noon. All participants must fill out a waiver of liability prior to using the game system.





Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 31 is the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held at Roseland Cottage at 1PM. Participants are up to age 10.  Please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the local food bank. The date was changed due to the snow on the ground.

Essentrics Age Reverse & Rebalance Exercise Class:  Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 - 10:00 am. Please note:  No Class on March 14, April 16, April 18, May 16 and May 28.  There is a minimal charge of $2 per class for residents and $3 per class for non-residents.  All classes are held in the lower level of the Woodstock Town Hall and are part of the Woodstock Recreation Department's Senior Exercise Program.

Fall Prevention Clinic:  Day Kimball Healthcare at Home will be holding a "Fall Prevention Clinic" at the Woodstock Town Hall--rescheduled date is April 11.  This is a free program.  Registration is required.  Call 860-928-0422 ext. 103 to register.

Memorial Day 10K Road Race: The race will be held on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Woodstock Academy Field House Gym.  Registration can be done by mail with the attached registration form, the day of the race beginning at 7:30am or online at:

Twilight Concert Series:   Concerts will be held on Friday evenings at Roseland Cottage, the "Pink House," at 7PM.  Concerts are free.  Bring a blanket, chairs and have a picnic out on the lawn!

            Beck N' Call - June 22 (rain date is June 30)

            "The 102nd Army Band" - July 27 (no rain date)

            The Little Big Band - August 10 (rain date is Thursday, August 16)

Volleyball: Co-ed adult volleyball will be held on Monday evenings from 7:30-10:30pm at the Woodstock Academy South Campus Gym.  The next session will be April 2 - June 11, 2018.  The cost is $10 per person for the year.

Yoga:  Please note the new location - Woodstock Middle School Music Room.  This class is suitable for beginners and experienced exercisers.  Must be at least 16 years old.  Classes are held on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Woodstock Middle School Music Room on March 26, April 2, 9, 23, 30, May 7 and 14.  The cost is $56 for all 7 classes or $35 for 4 classes.  A drop-in rate is $10 per class. There will not be a class on April 16th.
