Recreation Commission


The purpose of the Recreation Commission to promote the general welfare of the community by providing recreational activities for children and other citizens of the Town of Woodstock.


The full Recreation Commission meets monthly, usually on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. See the Calendar tab (above) for upcoming meetings. Special Subcommittee meetings are scheduled as needed. Agendas and minutes are available at the Town Hall and on this website. Meetings are open to the public.


The Recreation Commission is a five member group created by the Board of Selectmen. The terms of office are two years running concurrently with the Board of Selectmen each municipal election.

We need volunteers. Do you have great ideas? Would you like to see new programs? Do you have a little time? If you would like more information on how to get involved with this fun and dedicated commission, call us at 860-315-5175.

New Recreation Park Facility: Located on Senexet Village Road (Behind the Beeches Real Estate off Route 171): Soccer field, walking trail, and basketball court. For more information contact the Recreation Department.

Wii for SeniorsWii Gaming for Woodstock Seniors: The Wii Gaming System is a fun, interactive program that promotes healthy lifestyles through physical active play. Games include tennis, bowling, golf, and dancing. Games are played on a big screen with the use of hand held controllers. The cost is FREE. The program begins October 8th and is located at the Woodstock Town Hall, Lower Level, on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 am to noon. All participants must fill out a waiver of liability prior to using the game system.





Friday Evening Concert Schedule:                     Concerts are at 7:00 p.m. at Roseland Cottage.

                  August 25th - Beck N' Call


Essentrics Age Reverse & Rebalance Exercise Class:  Please note:  Classes will begin its next session on Wednesday, September 6. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am - 10:00 am.  There is a minimal charge of $2 per class for residents and $3 per class for non-residents.  All classes are held in the lower level of the Woodstock Town Hall and are part of the Woodstock Recreation Department's Senior Exercise Program.

Squirt Soccer:  Introduction to soccer for children age 3 and 4 will be held on Saturdays, September 9, 16, 23, 30 and October 7 and 14 from 9-9:30am at the Woodstock Elementary School Field.  Registration fees are $25/player, $35 maximum per family (includes a T-Shirt.)

Zumba:  Monday evenings on September 11, 18, 25 and October 2, 16, 23 and 30 from 6-7pm at the Woodstock Town Hall (lower level).  The cost is $50 for all seven classes; or $35 for four classes.  The drop in cost is $10 per class.

Woodstock held a Community Clean Up Day at our new Recreation Park Walking Trails. Nine volunteers work from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the woods, collecting two Town dump truck loads of old glass, rusty car and truck parts, tires, barrels and other trash on April 10, 2010. Volunteers included Jeff Bartolomie, Zack Bartolomie, Christopher Bates, Laura Burke, Mackenzie Cooney, John Navarro, and Karen Fitzpatrick of Woodstock, Emily Navarro of Pomfret, and Thomas Hull of Brooklyn.
